A case of myoglobinuria after hemorrhagic shock, secondary to massive
gastric bleeding, in a premature infants is reported. Rabdomyolysis an
d myoglobinemia were secondary to a non traumatic, acute, hypoxic and
hypovolemic stress that complicated the recovery the recovery phase of
RDS. The amount of free hemoglobin transfused, having a greater affin
ity for the common vector protein, broke the aptoglobin-myoglobin bond
to its advantage, facilitating myoglobin renal excretion.
