Operating conditions were determined for the flow-injection determinat
ion of hydrazine as a 5,7-dinitrobenzofuran derivative, In studying th
e effect of various compounds on die signal intensity in the spectroph
otometric detection of the hydrazine: derivative in a flow-injection a
nalysis (FIA) system, it was found that the solvent and the major cons
tituents of the reaction mixture exhibit basic catalytic properties. F
IA procedures were developed for determining hydrazine in mixtures wit
h a detection limit of 0.012 mu g/mL and a throughput of 46 h(-1).
