Abstract
The organolithium compound [Li(DME)](2)[C8H6(SiMe3)(2)-1,4] (2) was pr epared and characterized by a single-crystal X-ray structural analysis . The structure consists of a 1,4-bis(trimethylsilyl)cyclooctatetraene dianion with the two lithium atoms coordinated to the ring in an eta( 3)-allyl-like fashion. The corresponding potassium derivative K-2[C8H6 (SiMe3)(2)-1,4] (3) has been prepared by deprotonation of 1,4-bis(trim ethylsilyl)-2,5, 7-cyclooctatriene with potassium hydride.
