Abstract
We examine the mechanism of transfer for complete coherent transfer sc hemes which are applicable to efficient photoionization, spectroscopic study, collisional dynamics study, coherent atomic beam splitters for atomic interferometry, and control of atomic beams for laser cooling. The optimal detuning method using detuned lasers, the adiabatic passa ge using delayed lasers, and the intermediate region with nonzero dela y and detuning are taken under the two-photon resonance, and the optim ally detuned, as well as the optimally delayed, laser condition is con sidered beyond the two-photon resonance. Using the dressed state appro ach, we present the state vectors in the rotating frame describing com plete coherent population transfer and show the atomic transitions bet ween eigenstates, which result in prominently different mechanisms, de pending on the laser variables controlled.
