This paper concerns a recent vibration absorption scheme, which is cal
led the delayed resonator (DR). Torsional vibration cases are consider
ed here for the first time with the new scheme. The angular velocity,
which is a commonly measurable state for rotating systems, is fed hack
with a controlled Lime delay, as opposed to the position and accelera
tion of the earlier studied translational vibration cases. Some intere
sting distinctions of this control law are highlighted. Analytical and
experimental findings are presented to show how the method of DR abso
rption can be adapted on an electric drive setting, The stability anal
ysis Is also reviewed for the entire system, including the DR absorber
and the original oscillatory structure. Encouraging agreement between
analytical and experimental findings are reported.
