As shown by experiments and simulation calculations, the direct and in
direct interactions between fluid dynamics and the regeneration reacti
on both have a significant, but quite different impact on the regenera
tion behavior. While the outlet temperature is mainly governed by the
indirect interactions, i.e. the soot distribution, the temperature ins
ide the filter is mainly controlled by the direct interactions, i.e. t
he changing fluid properties, Furthermore, the impact of winding struc
ture on the regeneration behavior is investigated by a simulation stud
y: too, demonstrating that for practical applications filters with com
posite windings are the recommended choice.
