Abstract
On the basis of a study of the kinetics of the liquid-phase hydrogenat ion of aromatic nitro compounds on palladium-containing polymers, a po ssible mechanism of the process is proposed and discussed, Initially t he nitro compound molecules react with catalyst metal centres containi ng activated hydrogen, The adduct formed ''collects'' deficient activa ted hydrogen from the ''surface'' of the catalyst, after which the ami ne produced is forced out into solution by molecular hydrogen, (C) 199 8 Elsevier Science Ltd.
