Abstract
In the past few years digital technology has brought EEG and evoked po tentials into emergency rooms, intensive care units and operating room s with a variety of automatic data trending. Networking of these syste ms makes access to clinical neurophysiologists nearly immediate. Digit al EEG has made montage reformatting and quantitation of parameters re adily available. Increased spatial and temporal resolution is availabl e with routine EEG, and combined topographic and frequency mapping of a given potential, spike or seizure focus is possible. In the future, these and other features such as dipole mapping and cognitive EP analy sis will be available on a routine basis. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ir eland Ltd.
