Images can be processed by integrating diffusion-based differential eq uations. Generally diffusion smoothes edges and corners, thereby blurr ing important visual information. Patterns can be stabilized by incorp orating reaction terms into the differential equations. This paper sho ws a way how to design the parameters of the reaction-diffusion equati on such that specific modes become stable.
