Burgers' equation is solved by a Petrov-Galerkin method using quadrati
c B-spline spatial finite elements. A linear recurrence relationship f
or the numerical solution of the resulting system of ordinary differen
tial equations is obtained via a Crank-Nicolson approach involving a p
roduct approximation. Standard problems are solved to assess the prope
rties of the algorithm.
