Abstract
The construction metaphor provides a useful way to describe how softwa re is built. The author adopts that metaphor to the development proces s, comparing the improvement of existing development processes to fixi ng up an old house. Pay attention to the basics first, he argues, and work on one thing at a time-this often proves more practical than star ting from the ground up.
