The thermal evolution of three different aluminosilicate gels of mulli
te composition, Al6Si2O13, synthesised by colloidal and polymeric meth
ods was studied. The experimental techniques used were N-2 adsorption,
measurements of density Hg porosimetry, infrared absorption spectrosc
opy, TEM, and XRD. Changes in specific surface area and density of gel
s with temperature are discussed in terms of phase evolution and the m
