Abstract
The new phase SrHg2O2Cl2 includes an unusual T-shaped HgO3 grouping as part of infinite [Hg2O2]-infinity sheets. The structure of SrHg2O2Cl2 was determined by ab initio methods from laboratory X-ray powder data and optimized by a joint Rietveld refinement against X-ray and neutro n data.
