Abstract
Coordinative addition of [Mn(CO)(5)](-) to TeCl4 resulted in the forma tion of a discrete chlorotellurate, [Cl4TeMn(CO)(5)](-). The X-ray cry stal structure revealed the planar TeCl4 unit to be parallel to the Mn (CO)(4) plane with the inert pair at Te in a trans position to the Mn( CO)(ax).
