Abstract
A smooth and convenient one-step synthesis of 3,4-disubstituted pyrrol e-2,5-dicarbaldehydes 2 is reported. This reaction involves the conden sation of beta-substituted pyrrole-2-carboxylic acids with triethyl or thoformate in trifluoroacetic acid to give the title compounds in good yield.
