Abstract
The formalism for calculating the lineshape of a spin 1/2 J-coupled to a high-spin nucleus undergoing quadrupolar and chemical shift anisotr opy (CSA) relaxations is derived in the case where the tensors of both interactions are noncoincident and nonaxial, The expressions show tha t the CSA-quadrupolar interference term which is responsible for the a symmetry of lines involves a term depending on tensorial parameters, T he effect of this term on the lineshapes is discussed with respect to three cases, namely coincident-axially symmetric, noncoincident-axiall y symmetric, and general noncoincident quadrupolar and CSA tensors, Th ese cases are considered in the analysis of the lineshape of the H-1-d ecoupled spectra of the P-31 nucleus J-coupled to the Co-59 nucleus en countered in the tetrahedral cluster HFeCo3(CO)(11)PPh2H.
