Abstract
General forms of a relation between the Lagrangian and Eulerian probab ility distributions of the Jacobian as well as the densities of passiv e tracers in a turbulent medium are obtained. Using these, in the case s of a compressible and an incompressible medium, the probability prop erties of the density under various initial distributions of the latte r are analysed and studied.
