Abstract
This self-directed learning module highlights new advances in selected topics related to brain injury rehabilitation. It is part of the chap ter on brain injury rehabilitation in the Self-Directed Physiatric Edu cation Program for practitioners and trainees in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This article explores medical and rehabilitation issu es related to the care of persons with cerebral aneurysms and hypoxic brain injury, those with mild traumatic brain injury, and those who ar e minimally responsive as a result of severe brain injury. New advance s covered in this section include a more formal definition of mild tra umatic brain injury, principles for drug management in severe brain in jury, and explanations of the impact of various medical issues in the rehabilitation of patients with a cerebral aneurysm or hypoxic brain i njury.
