A. Almoussarih et al., SPONTANEOUS RUPTURE OF THE ASCENDING AORT A - A DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC EMERGENCY - 2 CASES REPORTS, Archives des maladies du coeur et des vaisseaux, 91(2), 1998, pp. 257-261
The authors report two cases of spontaneous rupture of the ascending a
orta complicating atheromatous disease but without traumatic or infect
ious factors. The clinical presentation is very similar to that of dis
section of the aorta. The diagnosis is based on non-invasive and invas
ive investigations showing localised abnormalities of the aortic wall
suggestive of localised dissection and haemopericardium. Surgery shows
transverse tearing of the aortic wall without dissection of the media
. It is a surgical emergency, the deceptive presentation of which shou
ld not be missed.
