Abstract
Hydrosilylation of N-allylimidazole hydrochloride by methyldichlorosil ane (MeC1(2)SiH) under mild conditions leads to a high yield of N-[gam ma-(methyldichlorosilyl)propyl]imidazole hydrochloride - highly reacti ve monomer for synthesis of imidazole modified polysiloxanes. This com pound was used as the substrate for the generation of new cyclooligosi loxanes with the imidazole group attached through the trimethylene bri dge to a siloxane ring. The anionic ring-opening polymerization of the se cyclics permits the controlled synthesis of polysiloxanes with imid azole groups pendant to the polymer chain.
