This paper presents the theoretical analysis, based on the finite elem
ents method (FEM), for the stress-strain states developed in the criti
cal, or the so-called ''hot'' areas of the alkylation reactors. The hy
pothesis of the linear-elastic behaviour of the material ''in situ'' w
as accepted, taking into account the inside uniform manometer pressure
. Within the geometrical and mechanical structure symmetry, the numeri
cal simulation was done with a package of original calculation program
mes, developed by using the axial symmetrical triangular lineary finit
e element. Since the technological operation of the reactors takes pla
ce in the high temperatures range, the analysis was completed with an
approximate evaluation of the thermal stress level. The concentrating
effects were quantified using the mechanical stresses elastic concentr
ation.
