Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of the hydrodynamic and mass transfer conditions in an abiotic system and in the abiotic system and in the p enicillin biosynthesis performed in industrial bioreactors provided wi th classical and modified Rushton turbine agitation, The bioreactors u sing modified agitators create a hydrodynamic microclimate favourable to the penicillin culture, by actually increasing the well agitated ar ea, the oxygen mass transfer rate, the fluid pumping efficiency and th e micelles life scission frequency.
