Abstract
Fundamental principles of chemical transport reactions (CVT) are descr ibed including the historical development. Typical transport reactions are regarded with respect to general principles and the thermodynamic background. Some practical aspects (Mend process, halide lamps, hydro thermal synthesis) are discussed.
