Abstract
Sudden onset sensorineural deafness is an otological emergency; subseq uent recovery of hearing has been shown to correlate with early treatm ent. There have been few documented reports of this occurring in pregn ancy, although the increased thrombogenic risk of the pregnant state i s a proposed aetiological factor. The wide variation in outcome is dem onstrated by these two cases, which are presented to raise awareness o f this condition.
