Reduction of Am(V) in NaOH solution is studied spectrophotometrically.
Na2S2O4, Na2SO3, and (NH2)(2)CSO2 react with Am(V) at 22 degrees C at
a moderate rate. N2H4 . HNO3 and NH2OH slowly convert Am(V) to Am(III
) hydroxide. The reaction is accelerated with increasing concentration
of reductant and decreasing concentration of NaOH.
