Resonant charge transfer processes between slow H+ ions from Al surfac
es are studied. A one-electron time dependent Anderson-Newns Hamiltoni
an represented in a LCAO basis is used to model the ion-substrate char
ge transfer mechanism. Keldysh-Green functions are used to solve the n
on-equilibrium problem enabling us to obtain the population along the
ion's trajectory. The theory reveals to be specially useful as it make
s it possible to introduce the realistic 3-D electronic structure of t
he surface through the unperturbed Green's functions localized in the
Al target site atom(s). Results for a realistic H+-Al collision with p
arallel velocity effects are discussed.
