We describe the nonenzymatic ligation of oligodeoxynucleotides (ODNs)
containing a mercapto group at the 5 position of 2'-deoxyuridine via a
disulfide bond. Two ODNs containing different sequences were efficien
tly ligated in the presence of a template by this method.
