Intraspecific craniometric variability related to age, was analyzed fo
r the roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) by measuring 202 skulls (111 male
s and 91 females) from five different populations in Western Europe. F
rom the results, a large increase in viscerocranium length occurs duri
ng the early stages of growth, followed by an increase in breadth duri
ng adulthood. The growth pattern is similar among populations and in b
oth sexes.
