This note presents a new beam-type vibration absorber having a suppres
sing effect on several vibration modes of beams. An approximate tuning
method of the beam-type dynamic absorber is proposed, in which applic
ation is made of the tuning conditions of an absorber in the two-degre
es-of-freedom system. Numerical investigations have shown the approxim
ate tuning method to be useful and have demonstrated the effectiveness
of the beam-type dynamic vibration absorber.
