In order to address this question, this investigation examined the im pact of sex and gender role self-perceptions on viewers' responses to neutral, melodramatic, and violent plm segments. Working with a predom inantly Caucasian population (93% Caucasian) at a southeastern univers ity, the results emphasize the importance of sex and gender role self- perceptions on viewers' affective responses to media entertainment The implications of these findings are discussed.
