Calcification within the liver is a relatively uncommon finding in dai
ly clinical practice. In the majority of cases calcification is a resu
lt of inflammation, usually from one of a variety of granulomatous inf
ections; however, there are liver lesions that can calcify of which th
e radiologist should be aware. This article discusses the etiology of
liver calcifications and shows examples of inflammatory lesions, benig
n liver tumors, and primary malignancies.
