Abstract
The Radiance lighting analysis and visualization software was used to analyze the correlation between daylight sensing photocells and availa ble illuminance from daylight in a small private office with vertical glazing and dimmed electric lighting. A variety of photocell configura tions were considered, including unshielded, partially shielded, and f ully shielded photocells which were mounted in a variety of positions on the ceiling and walls of a room. Different window orientations and daylight conditions were also considered. The study was performed with direct, indirect, and direct-indirect electric lighting systems. The results provide valuable information regarding photocell configuration s and mounting locations and their relation to system performance in t racking interior daylight levels for the lighting conditions tested.
