In this talk I review the status of the search for a NN-decoupled narr
ow resonance in the pi NN-system, the so called d' resonance. After di
scussing possible reactions suitable for detecting this resonance, I w
ill report on latest results from measurements of the pionic double ch
arge exchange reaction on nuclei, where recently it has been shown tha
t these data can be well described under the assumption of a significa
nt d' contribution in this reaction channel. In order to investigate t
he possibility of d' production outside the nuclear medium - and thus
to prove or disprove the existence of d' - further reactions have been
studied, on which I will report here.
