Abstract
The binary interactions between bromopyrogallol red anionic dye and ca tionic surfactants (cetylpyridinium chloride and cetyltrimethylammoniu m bromide) have been studied by UV-visible spectrophotometry. The effe ct of bromopyrogallol red on the critical micelle concentration of the cationic surfactants and the effect of the cationic surfactants on th e acid-base dissociation equilibrium of bromopyrogallol red have been discussed. Based on the spectral characteristics of the two binary int eractions, a new chromogenic system has been developed for micro deter minations of the two cationic surfactants.
