R. Kato et al., SUPPRESSION AND ENHANCEMENT OF COHERENT SYNCHROTRON-RADIATION IN THE PRESENCE OF 2 PARALLEL CONDUCTING PLATES, Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics, 57(3), 1998, pp. 3454-3460
The suppression effect of coherent synchrotron radiation due to conduc
ting boundaries has been observed using the Tohoku University 300-MeV
linac. The variation of the relative intensity of coherent synchrotron
radiation with the gap between the metallic plates is well explained
by the theory of Nodvick and Saxon. The emission of coherent synchrotr
on radiation in the long-wavelength region is suppressed more than tha
t predicted by the theory, which indicates the possibility of other su
ppressing effects.
