Recent theoretical developments have improved the understanding of gai
n scheduled control and suggested new methods for design, analysis, an
d implementation of such nonlinear control systems, An integrated soft
ware environment fur gain scheduled local controller network design an
d :analysis, including computer-aided modeling and system identificati
on, is described. Some background theory is included, and a speed cont
rol design problem for an experimental vehicle illustrates the applica
tion of the approach.
