Abstract
The static extreme-load approach, lander certain conditions, appears t o be the solution of an unconstrained discrete minimax problem. It is shown that it is possible to eliminate the operator Max in this proble m. The subsequent problem involves minimizing a regularized function w ithout constraints. An application to the determination of the macrosc opic strength of a punched material exhibits the efficiency of this me thod. (C) Academic des Sciences/Elsevier, Paris.
