Dj. Mills et Rd. Knutsen, AN INVESTIGATION OF THE TRIBOLOGICAL BEHAVIOR OF A HIGH-NITROGEN CR-MN AUSTENITIC STAINLESS-STEEL, Wear, 215(1-2), 1998, pp. 83-90
The tribological behaviour of a novel high-nitrogen Cr-Mn austenitic s
tainless steel (referred to as CrMnN-steel) has been investigated usin
g dry abrasion, abrasion-corrosion, and cavitation erosion test techni
ques. The performance of CrMnN-steel has been compared to AISI 304 sta
inless steel and Hadfield manganese steel. Hadfield steel demonstrates
the highest abrasion resistance, but CrMnN-steel is far superior when
a corrosive environment is introduced. The cavitation erosion resista
nce of CrMnN-steel in distilled water is greater than both AISI 304 an
d Hadfield steel. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
