Abstract
The reaction between bismuth ethoxide and [Ba(thd)(2)](4) (Hthd = 2,2, 6,6-tetramethylheptane-3,5-dione) afforded the octanuclear u(4)-O)(2)( mu(3)-OEt)(8)(mu-OEt)(4)(eta(2)-thd)(4) species in high yield, the str ucture being determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction; the forma tion of this species was precluded in anaerobic media.
