Abstract
By utilizing the characteristics of a valve metal alloy capable of pos sessing specific electrocatalytic activity and corrosion resistance by molten salt metalliding, an attempt was made to use this alloy as the anode material for a molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC). In this paper an MCFC anode was modified by the electrodeposition of niobium on the nickel surface in molten fluoride. Polarization experiments reveal th at corrosion resistance as well as the electrocatalytic activity of th e niobium-modified electrode is superior to that of an unmodified one.
