K. Kitayama, HIGHLY STABILIZED MILLIMETER-WAVE GENERATION BY USING FIBEROPTIC FREQUENCY-TUNABLE COMB GENERATOR, Journal of lightwave technology, 15(5), 1997, pp. 883-893
A novel optical generation and transport technique for millimeter-wave
(mm-wave) signal by using the fiber-optic frequency-tunable comb gene
rator having a discrete emission spectrum as the light source is propo
sed. 60 GHz mm-wave signal generation and transmission over 108 km-lon
g optical fiber link at lambda = 1560 nm is demonstrated. Excellent st
ability of both the frequency and amplitude of the mm-wave carrier is
attained that the 3 dB linewidth is less than 0.3 kHz and the variance
of the amplitude fluctuation is 0.07 dB, The advantages include a tun
ability of the carrier frequency, handling ease, and no need of high-s
peed external light modulator.
