People suffering from dementia are confronted with a more or less seve
re loss of the capacity for orientation. This article describes - base
d on project experience - how by structuring the environment the orien
tation of demented people can be enhanced in space, time and groups. I
ncluding the environment as a resource for the diagnosis and therapy o
f dementia is for professionals working in institutions a fairly unusu
al view and a new challenge.
