The structure of layers of treatment material on milling bodies in pro
cesses of mechanochemical synthesis of metal silicides are investigate
d. Samples of metallographic specimen of layer on sphere are scanned w
ith step 50 mu m. The thickness of layer is 150-250 mu m. The layer co
nsists of plastic component (metal) of mix initial products and compou
nd appearing in result of mechanochemical reaction. The less plastic c
omponent (silicon) not detected in layers. Two types of distribution o
f phases in layers on milling sphere are revealed.
