Abstract
The paper examines questions relating to the interpretation of images of internal waves acquired using the Almaz-1 synthetic aperture radar. It is shown that by incorporating and using hydrometeorological and h ydrographic data in an appropriate manner, and taking into account the mechanisms governing the representation of internal waves on radar im ages, it is frequently possible to estimate and explain the parameters of an internal wave train and the mechanism by which it is generated.
