N-(4-BENZYLIDENE-2-METHYL PHENYL-5-OXO-IMIDAZOLIN-1-YL)-ACETOACETAMIDES AND THEIR BETA-(4-SUBSTITUTED PHENYL)-AZO ANALOGS/

Condensation of -4-benzylidene-2-methyl/phenyl-5-(4H)-imidazolines (1a ,b) with ethyl acetoacetate gave corresponding thyl/phenyl-5-oxo-imida zolin-1-yl)-acetoacetamides (2,3). These were reacted with diazotised arylamines (A) to afford corresponding azo analogs (4-13). The compoun ds were characterized and evaluated for their analgesic, antiinflammat ory, antihistaminic and antimicrobial properties. Some of these compou nds were found to exhibit good analgesic and antiinflammatory properti es.
