Abstract
We investigate a temporal method using ultrashort pulses for measuring the whole set of dispersion characteristics of birefringent crystals. The principle consists in measuring the time of flight of ultrashort pulses through the crystal. It allows the determination of the princip le axes, the indices, the group velocities and the group velocity disp ersion. These measurements are realized on an AgCaS2 crystal in the vi sible and near-infrared spectrum.
