Abstract
Thunderstorms with predominance of positive cloud-to-ground flashes ha ve been identified to occur in the southeastern region of Brazil durin g the summer season. The thunderstorms are similar to those recently i dentified to occur in the Great Plains of the United States, although some differences are evident. The differences may be very important to elucidate their origin. Also, the observation seems to indicate that such thunderstorms may occur in several other regions of the world.
