F. Resillezurioste et al., USE OF A RESIN-IONOMER IN THE TREATMENT OF MECHANICAL ROOT PERFORATION - REPORT OF A CASE, Quintessence international, 29(2), 1998, pp. 115-118
A perforated root represents a difficult challenge to the clinician, a
nd treatment of such defects often involves surgical and/or advanced r
estorative techniques. This typically requires a series of lengthy, of
ten stressful appointments, may compromise esthetics, and invariably i
nvolves additional costs to the patient. This case report describes th
e nonsurgical treatment of separate mechanical perforations that resul
ted from the removal of a failed prefabricated post. The tooth was res
tored in a minimum number of visits through the use of a novel applica
tion of a resin-ionomer material originally designed for routine resto
rative procedures.
