R. Berkovits et U. Sivan, TRANSMISSION THROUGH AN INTERACTING QUANTUM-DOT IN THE COULOMB-BLOCKADE REGIME, Europhysics letters, 41(6), 1998, pp. 653-658
The influence of electron-electron (e-e) interactions on the transmiss
ion through a quantum dot is investigated numerically for the Coulomb
blockade regime. For vanishing magnetic fields, the conductance peak h
eight statistics is found to be independent of the interactions streng
th. It is identical to the statistics predicted by constant-interactio
n single-electron random matrix theory and agrees well with recent exp
eriments. However, in contrast to these random matrix theories, our ca
lculations reproduce the reduced sensitivity to magnetic flux observed
in many experiments. The relevant physics is traced to the short-rang
e Coulomb correlations providing thus a unified explanation for the tr
ansmission statistics as well as for the large conductance peak spacin
g fluctuations observed in other experiments.
