Inelastic collisions of electrons with cesium fluoride molecules were
studied by means of the extended crossed beams technique. It was found
that dissociation of CsF, ionization of the cesium atom, and excitati
on of the atomic ion formed take place during a single collision. Diss
ociative excitation cross sections for CsII spectral lines were measur
ed. On the basis of these measurements, excitation cross sections for
energy levels of single-charged cesium ion were calculated.
